London, 3 March. The Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF) has announced that it is appointing Lord Mackinlay of Richborough as its new Director. He will succeed outgoing Director, Dr Benny Peiser, who founded the GWPF with the late Nigel Lawson in 2009 (1), and retires at the end of March.

Lord Mackinlay previously served as the Member of Parliament for the South Thanet constituency, and founded the Net Zero Scrutiny Group of Parliamentarians.
Announcing his appointment, he said:
“I am proud to announce today that I am taking up the role of Director of the Global Warming Policy Foundation, an organisation that has done so much to expose the ruinous implications of politically-driven, economically-damaging energy policies.”
“I will be taking over from the magnificent Benny Peiser, who has bravely kept the flame of rational scepticism burning during times when it seemed like everyone was on the green bandwagon.”
“Since joining the House of Lords, I have been pleasantly surprised by the number of Peers from different parties who share my deep concerns about the risks posed by Net Zero. But this recognition will count for nothing unless these threats can be averted, and I will work with anyone who shares this aim.”
“My experience with sepsis has shown me the necessity and urgency of tackling a problem while you still can. Britain’s energy markets and our energy-intensive industries are in a desperate state, but this situation can still be turned around. Under my leadership, GWPF research will point the way to a more prosperous future.”
Dr Jerome Booth, Chairman of the GWPF’s Board of Trustees, said:
“The board is delighted that Lord Mackinlay is to lead the GWPF. The charity stands ready to assist policy makers across the political divide and help educate decision-makers and the public (2).  We are here to help in an emotive area of policy, one where moral reasoning has dominated and debate been stifled in the mainstream media.”
