Climate science is now shown to be utterly corrupt, as Roger Pielke Jr reveals in his latest post:

Roger’s story concerns a study, Grinsted et al 2018, which claimed that damage from hurricanes has been increasing because of climate change. He describes how the findings were derived from a fake ‘dataset” of hurricane losses assembled by a successive set of interns for a now defunct insurance company, for purposes of marketing insurance products. The “dataset” was never intended for research.
After registering a complaint with the journal which published the junk study, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), the paper’s editor, well known alarmist Kerry Emmanuel rejected the complaint out of hand. He claimed that the non existent dataset was reliable, because it had been confirmed by other datasets, But as Pielke quickly pointed out, these “other datasets” were all subsets of the fake dataset!
It is hard to think of a more dishonest defence of what is clearly such a flawed study that should never have been published in the first place. But that, I am afraid, is all too common when it comes to climate science nowadays.
